The film has been selected to compete in the Adelaide International Film Festival, a great honour.

Beatriz’s War will screen on Friday October 18 at 7pm and Saturday October 19 at 1.45pm.

Tickets for the two screenings can be booked online through the festival.

Many of the Timorese who made the film will be at the screening and the forum. Bety Reis (co-director), Irim Tolentino (writer & lead actor), Jose da Costa (producer & actor), Lurdes Pires (producer), Augusta Soares (actor) and other cast and crew will be at the screening and the festival of ideas
forum.

‘A Guerra da Beatriz” is set to make cinematic history as Timor-Leste’s first ever feature film, an intensely moving love story set against the backdrop of the Indonesian invasion and the Kraras massacre of 1983. This will be the film’s Australian premiere. Furthermore, the film has been selected into competition. This is a great honour for a nation’s first film as only twelve films from around the world have been selected for competition, including new films by Jim Jarmusch, Claire Denis, and Alejandro Jodorowsky. The film has also been selected for the prestigious International Film Festival of India, one of Asia’s major festivals.
